President's Report

Dear neighbors and friends,

Your Association is continuing its projects for safety and beautification of our community with the completrion of several important projects:
  1. Video camera survellience system and signage at the entry to Mt. Olympus.  Now. Members and LAPD may review our DVR tapes for suspect vehicles related to crimes.
  2. Construction of a gate house in the center island of the entryway (in planning stage).
  3. Traffic circles (round abouts) at 3 locations in our community (pending city approval).
  4. Speed hump on lower Electra Drive (completed).
  5. Speed Feedback electronic sign on Electra drive (downhill), first in the city to be funded by a community and authorized by LADOT!
These projects which MOPOA is funding, are complex and require a long time to complete. Be assured that the Board is actively following through on all of these improvement projects. Unfortunately, most require LA City approval, which as you know can take a long time.

I hope you all received and reviewed the MOPOA brochure which was mailed to your home last year and is now posted on this web site. This important brochure summarizes LA Municipal Code sections and CC&Rs requirements that apply to our community. We call this brochure Keeping Mt. Olympus Clean & Green. Thanks to board member Mo Fitzgibbon who initiated and directed this important work.

Most important, I invite all members to participate in our community affairs. The best way to start is to attend a Board of Directors meeting to which you are all invited as a resident. These monthly board meetings usually take place on the first Thursday of each month. Please refer to the home page for meeting location and details.

Please note that Mt.Olympus now is fed by its separate NEW power lines from a different grid which BYPASSES Laurel Canyon/Lookout Mountain lines which caused our power outages for many years from, the rainstorms .  Thanks to Marvin Moon of DWP and the members of the Board who pressured DWP for years to finally get this done.
